# Jaca

This was the original capital of the Kingdom of Aragón in the 11th century. Among its sights there is the first Romanesque church built in Spain, which shows the importance of the city as a stage on the Santiago Way. Jaca offers its visitors a variety of ways of learning about its history and the history of Aragón. In the winter it is busy because it’s close to the ski resorts of Candanchú and Astún. And in the summer it becomes a cultural and educational meeting point; the Universidad de Zaragoza, for example, gives its summer courses there.
