# Castle of Loarre

This Romanesque castle is in the sierra de Loarre, about 35 kms from the city of Huesca. Constructed by King Sancho III in the 11th century, it is considered the best-preserved Romanesque fort in Europe. It sits on a limestone promontory which in its moment gave it a defensive advantage because it could not be mined. These days, thanks to its authenticity, the castle is often used as a film location.
